COMPLIMENTARY MEDICINE
Complementary Medicine is a system of health care which combines the therapies and philosophies of conventional medicine with those of alternative medicines. The objective of Complementary Medicine is to enhance and improve the ability of the patient to heal or be relieved of symptoms. When merged with conventional medicine, complementary therapies offer a more integrated approach to cure.
Dr Abraham’s Asthma & Allergy Research Centre provides this revolutionary system of medical care which is proven to be an enormous success in last thirty years. The following therapeutic techniques are exercised under the expertise of an interdisciplinary team of eminent professionals from various disciplines from Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Vita-Nutrient Therapy, Naturopathy, Diet Therapy, Yoga Therapy, Acupuncture and Counselling.
Allopathy
Allopathic system of medical practice treats disease by conventional means, i.e. with drugs having effects opposite to the symptoms. This system of medicine is also called conventional or modern medicine.
Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a complementary medicine system that treats ailments with tiny doses of natural substances that, in larger amounts, would produce similar symptoms. It aims to stimulate the body’s immune response by encouraging symptoms as part of the healing process.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda is the traditional Hindu system of medicine (incorporated in Atharva Veda, the last of the four Vedas), which is based on the idea of balance in bodily systems and uses diet, herbal treatment, and yogic breathing. Theories of Ayurveda analyze the human body in terms of earth, water, fire, air, and ether as well as the three bodily humours (wind, bile, and phlegm). To prevent illness, Ayurvedic medicine emphasizes hygiene, exercise, herbal preparations, and yoga. To cure ailments, it relies on herbal medicines, physiotherapy, and diet.
Vita nutrient therapy
The Vita-nutrient solution was proposed by Dr. Robert Atkins, a champion of complementary medicine and nutritional therapy. It presents the scientific basis for the use of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbs, and hormones in the treatment and prevention of many of the chronic illnesses that plague us today. These vita-nutrients harness the body’s ability to heal itself, rather than resorting to conventional drugs and invasive procedures. This method of complementary medicine addresses the true causes of disease instead of temporarily alleviating symptoms, promoting longer-lasting and more effective healing.
The vita-nutrient solution isn’t just a supporting actor for successful therapy; in most instances the vita-nutrients themselves should be the treatment of choice.
Naturopathy
Importance of diet and regimen during the treatment and for the maintenance of health is not new to the world. According to Dr Abraham, diet is the key to health and disease. Dr Abraham’s Asthma & Allergy Research Centre provides optimum nutritional care through diet management. This is achieved in various stages such as Nutritional Screening, Nutritional Assessment, Evaluation of Nutritional Status, Nutritional Intervention and continuous monitoring. The diet will be modified according to each individual’s health status, disease condition and age.
Yoga Therapy
Yoga, which originated in ancient India, means the union of mind, body, and spirit. It involves physical postures (asanas) to promote balance and self-awareness.
Yoga therapy adapts these practices to help individuals manage health conditions, reduce symptoms, and improve overall well-being. It focuses on treating the root cause of illness—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
At Dr. Abraham’s Asthma & Allergy Research Centre, Yoga therapy is taught one-on-one by trained therapists. For those over 12 with chronic conditions, a minimum number of sessions is required for complete healing.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a system of complementary medicine in which fine needles are inserted in the skin at specific points along what are considered to be lines of energy (meridians), used in the treatment of various physical and mental conditions. This is a safe and effective natural therapy that is used to heal illness, prevent disease and improve well-being. As part of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture aims to restore and maintain health through the stimulation of specific points on the body. It is effective for managing many acute and chronic diseases by regulating thebody’s physiological functions.
